1ST FLIGHT OF THE RED TAIL

1st flight of the P-51C Mustang “Tuskegee Airmen,” July 22, 2009. This aircraft is part of the CAF’s Red Tail Project, committed to telling the story of the Tuskegee Airmen. In 2004, this Mustang crashed, taking the life of pilot and project leader Don Hinz. Now, after a painstaking restoration at Tristate Aviation in Wahpeton, ND, this great bird is back in the air. Flown by pilot Doug Rozendaal, the Mustang did two excellent flights that evening.
