SUMMARY:

The Documentation Engineer assists with the upkeep and management of historic aircraft engineering documentation at AirCorps Aviation. This role requires a deep understanding of—and willingness to learn—the history behind engineering documentation at both military and aircraft manufacturer levels. The Documentation Engineer educates and trains team members on these resources, authors technical documents, and ensures documentation is well-organized and accessible. Reporting to the AirCorps Library Manager, this position also supports process documentation development, bill of materials creation, and continuous improvement initiatives across all departments. The ideal candidate is proactive, enjoys historical research, and applies critical thinking to every project.

Reports To: AirCorps Library Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist AirCorps employees from all departments in understanding and accessing the technical information they require for their work.
  • Manage the upkeep, processing, organization, and dissemination of AirCorps physical and digital technical resources, including historic drawings, manuals, and related materials.
  • Understand and navigate historical aircraft engineering drawings and manuals; effectively communicate details to the entire AirCorps team on an individual basis and through formal training sessions.
  • Assist in authoring and maintaining process documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and technical instructions to guide the proper usage of technical resources across the company.
  • Manage incoming continuous improvement requests and support the upkeep of existing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and coordinate the creation of restoration project bills of materials (BOMs).

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in a related technical field —Desireable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a closely related engineering field — Highly Desirable.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, or related technical environment (preferred; entry-level candidates with strong academic projects, internships, or co-op experience will be considered).
  • Familiarity with technical writing, drafting standards, or vintage aircraft restoration is a strong plus.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and professionally.
  • Physical capability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and work in a mixed office/shop environment.
  • Extremely high attention to detail, appreciation for repetitive tasks, and sustained passion over long-term projects.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and fulfillment of commitments.
  • Passion for aviation, historic aircraft, precision manufacturing, and high-quality craftsmanship is highly desirable.

Compensation:

  • $27-35.23 per hour
