SUMMARY:
AirCorps Aviation is looking for a creative, self-motivated individual with a sharp visual sense and a passion for design and creative production. The Production Design Artist creates artwork for AirCorps Aviation and for historic and modern aircraft, for both digital and physical delivery. The designer will work with a wide range of media, including digital and traditional marking methods specific to historic and modern aircraft. Ideas will be communicated clearly and effectively, verbally and visually, both internally and externally, with a high attention to detail. This position supports the mission of AirCorps Aviation: supporting the continued airworthiness of historic, legacy, and modern aircraft through award-winning restoration, maintenance, project management, parts fabrication, and sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design & Creative Development
- Create high-quality digital graphic designs.
- Generate new and original ideas within the parameters of stated objectives.
- Make subjective decisions regarding subject matter and projects.
- Manage brand consistency.
Project Management & Communication
- Lead projects from conception through production and delivery.
- Create standardized prepress files and proofs, and communicate deliverables clearly to customers and vendors.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and proofing.
Print & Production
- Produce small- and large-format graphics using a variety of methods and media, in both small and large quantities.
- Produce various physical print media types, such as decals, paint masks, stencils, placards, posters, informational displays, and digital products.
- Work independently to troubleshoot and maintain software and print hardware (training provided).
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Background in, or pursuing a degree in, art, graphic design, or a related field.
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, prepress, and physical print production.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Willingness to learn SignLab and other software platforms.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and manage deadlines.
- Ability to work well with all levels of staff and the general public.
- Ability to take and follow directions.
- Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred, But Not Required
- 1 – 3 years of experience working in a creative atmosphere.
- Experience working with digital printing and vinyl cutting machines.
- A passion for aviation. Aviation industry experience is not required.
